A Fond Farewell and a Heartfelt Thank You to Our Teachers

衷心感謝我們的老師們，開學(xué)再見

As we bid farewell to the 2024/2025 academic year, we take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey we've shared. Today, at the closing ceremony, we celebrated not just the end of another successful year but also the remarkable contributions of our teachers, students, and staff. It was a day filled with academic awards, teacher recognition, a lively performance by a student-teacher band, and a touching love song that resonated deeply with everyone present.

在告別 2024-2025 學(xué)年之際，讓我們花一點時間回顧共同走過的奇妙的歷程。在今天的結(jié)課典禮上，我們不僅慶祝了又一個成功學(xué)年的結(jié)束，也慶祝了我們的老師、學(xué)生和員工所做出的卓越貢獻。這一天充滿了學(xué)術(shù)獎項、教師表彰、師生樂隊的生動表演以及一首感人至深的情歌，引起了在場所有人的共鳴。

Principal's End-of-Year Speech

Good morning, everyone!

大家早上好

As we gather here today to celebrate the end of another remarkable year at RDF International School, I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to every member of our community—students, teachers, homeroom teachers, and staff—for your unwavering commitment and hard work. This year has been a testament to our collective passion for learning, growth, and building meaningful connections, and I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve accomplished together.

今天，我們在這里歡聚一堂，慶祝瑞得福國際學(xué)校又一個不平凡的學(xué)年的結(jié)束，我想借此機會向瑞得福的每一位成員--學(xué)生、教師、班主任和工作人員--表示最深切的感謝，感謝你們堅定不移的承諾和辛勤的工作。這一年是我們對學(xué)習、成長和建立有意義的聯(lián)系的集體熱情的見證，我為我們共同取得的成就感到無比自豪。

Whether you’ve discovered a new passion, overcome a challenge, or simply grown as a person, each of you has contributed to the vibrant tapestry of our school. Remember, the relationships you’ve built here are not just for today—they’re for the years to come.

This year, I’ve been particularly inspired by the messages shared during our Monday morning flag-raising ceremonies. Students have spoken of finding passion, engaging with life, and pursuing hobbies that make their time at school—and beyond—richer and more meaningful. I wholeheartedly agree. Passion is the spark that turns learning into adventure, and hobbies are the bridges that connect us to our deepest selves. This summer, I encourage you all to dig deeper into an area of interest—whether it’s art, music, sports, science, or something entirely unique to you. Let curiosity be your guide, and don’t be afraid to explore, experiment, or even fail. These experiences will shape you in ways no textbook ever could.

今年，大家在周一早上的升旗儀式上分享的信息讓我深受鼓舞。學(xué)生們紛紛表示，要找到激情，投入生活，追求一些讓自己在學(xué)校的時光--以及學(xué)校以外的時光--更加豐富和有意義的的愛好。我對此深表贊同。激情是將學(xué)習轉(zhuǎn)化為探索的火花，而愛好則是連接我們與內(nèi)心深處的自我的橋梁。今年夏天，我鼓勵大家深入研究自己感興趣的領(lǐng)域--無論是藝術(shù)、音樂、體育、科學(xué)，還是完全屬于自己的獨特領(lǐng)域。讓好奇心引導(dǎo)你們，不要害怕探索、實驗甚至失敗。這些經(jīng)歷將以教科書無法企及的方式塑造你。

I also want to reflect on a recent flag-raising speech by Mr. Blanco, who spoke powerfully about the importance of doing. In a world that often prioritizes virtual connection over real-world engagement, his words struck a chord. This summer, I urge you all to heed his advice—and mine: do not fall into the trap of excessive technology and screen time. Of course, enjoy games, social media, and entertainment in moderation. We all deserve moments of relaxation. But let this summer be a time to rediscover the joy of being—going outside, exercising, reading a physical book, or simply sitting in quiet reflection. Live a life in the world, not just in a cyber world. Global studies link rising anxiety, depression, and reduced happiness to excessive screen time, and I want us all to guard against this. When you meet friends, make it a rule to leave devices aside. Savor the laughter, the conversations, and the shared experiences. These are the moments that truly nourish the soul.

Your dedication goes far beyond the classroom. While your students may only see you for a few hours each day, we know the truth—that your work is a 24/7 commitment. You pour your hearts into crafting lessons, inspiring curiosity, and supporting every student’s unique journey. And to our homeroom teachers, who wear even more hats—greeting students on Sunday evenings, organizing events from dawn to dusk, and championing our students’ well-being—your tireless efforts are the backbone of our school. Thank you for your boundless energy, creativity, and care.

This year marked RDF’s 10th anniversary, and what a year it’s been! We’ve pushed boundaries, achieved milestones, and grown stronger as a community. Today, as we celebrate, let’s also take a moment to recognize the incredible achievements of our students and teachers. From academic excellence to artistic endeavors, from athletic triumphs to acts of kindness, each of you has left your mark on this school.

今年是瑞得福國際學(xué)校成立10周年，這是多么美好的一年！我們突破了界限，取得了里程碑式的成就，作為一個社區(qū)變得更加強大。今天，在我們慶祝的同時，也讓我們花一點時間來表彰我們的學(xué)生和老師所取得的令人難以置信的成就。從卓越的學(xué)業(yè)到藝術(shù)創(chuàng)作，從運動獲勝到善舉，你們每個人都在這所學(xué)校留下了自己的印記。

As we look ahead to the summer, I encourage you all to reflect on how fortunate we are to be in the education profession. Unlike many other fields, we are blessed with annual holidays and a summer break—a precious gift of time to recharge, explore, and pursue our passions. I hope you all take advantage of this opportunity to rest, travel, or dive into hobbies that bring you joy.

展望暑假，我鼓勵大家反思一下，我們從事教育行業(yè)是多么幸運。與許多其他行業(yè)不同，我們有幸享有寒假和暑假--這是一份寶貴的禮物，讓我們有時間充電、探索和追求我們的激情。我希望你們都能利用這個機會休息、旅行或投入到能給你們帶來快樂的愛好中去。

But before you pack your bags, I have a challenge for our students: think about your courses for next year. Choose at least one subject that intrigues you—or better yet, one that challenges you. Maybe it’s pre-calculus, AP Chemistry, or geometry. Or perhaps it’s photography, literature, or biology. Whatever it is, order a textbook, spend some time pre-reading, and test yourself. If you’re feeling ambitious, pick two subjects! The goal is to return in August not just refreshed, but ready to hit the ground running with new knowledge and confidence.
