Having served as the former Principal of United International School in Ningbo and held important management positions at Shanghai United International School, I bring a wealth of experience and confidence in my ability to bring value to the school and its students through my passion, drive, and ability to unite teams towards common goals. I advocate for high-quality education standards and continuously strive for professional development by self-studying new teaching methods or attending professional development workshops. My commitment to student success and a strong sense of mission drive me to constantly improve. I come from London, United Kingdom, with a passion for English literature, particularly 20th-century novels and plays. This passion drove me to obtain a First Class Honours Bachelor's degree in English Literature from the University of Greenwich and an Honours Master's degree from Northumbria University. Throughout my experience teaching IB and Cambridge curricula, I have continuously strived to help students develop an interest in English reading.

A few years ago, I had the opportunity to attend an educational professional seminar organized by the Nord Anglia Education Group in Ho Chi Minh City. As someone who has worked in the international education industry for many years, I had already heard of Nord Anglia Schools' academic excellence, but this event provided me with a deeper understanding. I witnessed how Nord Anglia nurtures students' curiosity through an immersive learning environment, where everything from facilities to philosophies complement each other. This experience made me eager to become a part of this educational group and embark on a journey of exploring English literature with the students!

I received my primary school teacher training in South Africa and have been teaching in the UK for 22 years. I hold a TEFL Level 5 certificate and have a wealth of ideas, skills, and teaching experience in teaching English as a second language. I excel in designing and organizing out-of-classroom learning activities, such as educational visits, camping trips, and field trips.

Being involved in education has always been my passion. My goal is to create an inclusive, inspiring, and imaginative classroom atmosphere that ultimately helps students achieve success. I firmly believe that if students love learning and feel safe and excited in the classroom, they will achieve greater accomplishments and enhance their self-esteem.

 

Additionally, I am dedicated to helping students discover their potential outside the classroom. During my time in the UK, I frequently organized camping and residential trips for students to support and motivate their extracurricular learning. I also led students on visits to places such as science museums, history museums, and art galleries to make their learning experiences creative and fascinating.

I hold a postgraduate degree in Education from the University of York and have obtained the UK Teacher Qualification Certificate (International Education) from the University of Nottingham. Since 2007, I have embarked on a career as a librarian, working at Beijing British International School, Dulwich College Beijing, Nord Anglia International School in Singapore, and an IB International School in Suzhou.

I have extensive teaching experience in international and bilingual school libraries, working with students from different age groups including kindergarten, primary, middle, and high school. I have guided students through various curriculum systems, including the UK National Curriculum, IPC Curriculum, IB-MYP Programme, and IBDP Programme. I love every curriculum system and enjoy the time spent teaching with students from each age group. Cultivating students' reading, information literacy, and research skills is my expertise.
