In light of the recent announcement of the 2023 Beijing high school entrance examination results, it is evident that this year's scores have faced a general decline compared to the previous year.The increased number of students taking the exam further intensifies the competition for limited high school enrollment. As a result, the passing rate for both ordinary and key high schools in Beijing is anticipated to be lower than last year. Amidst these circumstances, many parents are understandably feeling anxious and concerned for their children's educational future. Some students, despite achieving excellent grades, may find themselves unable to secure admission into their preferred schools due to the competitive nature of the exam. Consequently, an increasing number of parents have started considering the option of "transferring" their children to an international high school.
By engaging in the study of international high schools, students can proactively acclimate themselves to foreign teaching methods and boarding life. This early exposure allows them to cultivate a global perspective, enabling them to excel in the fiercely competitive international arena as they progress into the future. Through meticulously structured preparations for standardized tests, rigorous academic pursuits, and diverse extracurricular activities, students will develop comprehensive leadership abilities and cross-cultural communication skills. Embracing this holistic approach, students can overcome the challenge of high school entrance examination outcomes while pursuing their aspirations and vying for admission to world-class, renowned educational institutions.

MIT Global Collaborative Project
At NAS Fangshan, we are committed to nurturing brilliant thinkers and innovative talents with exceptional creativity and the ability to break traditional thinking patterns. Our collaboration with MIT provides students with advanced STEAM interdisciplinary education. We believe that this educational approach cultivates students' curiosity and problem-solving abilities, benefiting them for a lifetime.
Traditional teaching methods often treat science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics as separate disciplines. However, it is the integration of these disciplines that unleashes their powerful potential. Through our collaboration with MIT, students can engage in joint research with MIT professors on the same topics. For example, in response to a challenge posed by Dr. Jeff Hoffman, former astronaut and Deputy Principal Investigator of the Mars Oxygen In-Situ Resource Utilization Experiment (MOXIE), students from Nord Anglia schools worldwide collaborated to develop a filtering device for use on Mars. Through our collaboration with MIT, students in our STEAM curriculum achieve remarkable accomplishments each year under the guidance of experts, fully unleashing their innate curiosity.
UNICEF Global Cooperation Project
We are dedicated to empowering students from around the world to contribute to local communities and global philanthropic efforts. Through our collaboration with UNICEF, we base our initiatives on the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals, helping students reflect on how they can bring positive change to the world by setting challenge goals and developing learning materials. We share these materials with the global Nord Anglia learning community of teachers and students, and we put the UN's Sustainable Development Goals into practice through the annual Global Challenge and the implementation of social impact programs.
Our students have the opportunity to engage in various philanthropic projects that bring positive changes to local communities, including learning how to harness plants to create bioenergy. Through events like "World Children's Day," we educate students about their rights and foster awareness of protecting the rights of vulnerable groups. Students interested in sustainable development policies will have the chance to participate in the United Nations Children's Fund-organized United Nations High-Level Political Forum (HLPF), where they can engage in face-to-face discussions with UN and government leaders. Student ambassadors attending the conference will also have the opportunity to participate in relevant workshops and potentially deliver speeches at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. These opportunities will ignite students' interest in sustainable development and open doors for global communication and influence.
A flower doesn't blossom as it is, it needs our help to grow in its own way. Therefore, let us, as educators, embrace the role of gardeners, offering unique care and respect for each student, helping them grow in their own way. Let every flower in this educational garden bloom into a magnificent life in their unique way.
